    An Embankment Preservation Coalition exhibit at Casa Colombo Center for the Arts, 380 Monmouth Street, Jersey City, tells the story of Italian immigration to the Village section of Downtown Jersey City and the growth of the first Italian Roman Catholic parish in New Jersey, Holy Rosary on Sixth Street. Themes explored include the parallel growth of the community, church, and railroads in the Downtown, the effects of local government projects and broader economic and social trends on Village decline, and opportunities for renewed vibrancy.

    Will Jersey City reclaim the Harsimus Branch and its stone Embankment for adaptive reuse? We think so. Join us at the Embankment Preservation Coalition Annual Meeting, Grace Church Van Vorst, 39 Erie Street (entrance on 2nd Street), and hear our guest expert on "Emerging Ecologies of Reclaimed Land."

    An East Coast River Relay event, a five-mile bike tour (van seats are available for those who reserve by September 8) features Hoboken's resiliency projects.

    Helene Stapinski, noted author of Five-Finger Discount: A Crooked Family History, will launch her new book, Murder in Matera, here in Jersey City. The Embankment Preservation Coalition and the Italian Educational and Cultural Center are teaming up to sponsor the event, at Casa Colombo, 380 Monmouth Street.
